I can hear Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young’s “Our House” alternating with Kay Starr’s “Wheel of Fortune” and Led Zepplelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” as I stare at the men on the ladder. Like lemmings, they follow one another from the roof, to the spoked wheel, then to the crest where they step into space.
Suddenly, it all comes clear. The tableau is a metaphor for life: the house represents our heritage and environment; the wheel, opportunities to succeed or fail, and the ladder, steps taken on the way to desired goals of eternal life or the finality of completion.

Dear VB,
“Our house is a very, very fine house with two cats in the yard…” Nice metaphors and musings.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Thanks, Rochelle–good prompt.
Deep… very profound.
Many thanks–inspired by a combination of the imagery and the music it invoked.
Good one, how could you go wrong with CSNY playing in the background.
Definitely could not.
Great use of those lyrics. They go together well. 🙂
Thanks–great photo. If you ever find out what they’re doing there, I–and I’ll bet everyone else–would like to know.
philosophy tied up in music
The image you construct could keep the mind whirling for a bit
You’re right–the image inspired the choice of music which reinforced the meaning I saw in the imagery.
Some reflections to give pause to think. Well done.
Thanks, Sandra–enjoyed yours as well.
Like all 3 songs. Ladders ? No more than 6 ft for me or start trembling.
Why do I see the idea for a cartoon here?
When this is some deep thinking. I fear I may hurt myself if I spend too many brain cells on it. Very goo though!
Definitely not looking to inflict any physical or mental damage–just enjoy the music.
Thought-provoking post with musical memories. Nice!
Thanks, Gabriella–it certainly was a stimulating photo prompt.
You fit those songs in really well, vb, and wrote a post to give one pause. (I was going to say “thought-provoking”, but Gabriella had just said it, so…). 🙂

Many thanks, Janet–the songs came easily as I hear them played every so often. The music plus the images inspired the post.
This is the best explanation. I love how you did that. A very very very fine story!
Many thanks, Linda–a high compliment, indeed.
Quite philosophical for a Wednesday morning. I may need more coffee to digest it. 😉
Definitely need coffee before I read anything in the AM–and usually more, after I finish the first page of the paper.
Oh this was… … great (as thought provoking is already said)
Many thanks, Bjorn, for the welcome and well-appreciated praise.
I liked the multiple layers of inspiration used to craft these 100 words – nicely done!
Thanks for the nice comment–well appreciated.
Up, up, and away.
“…and away”: you’ve got it.
Interesting image, artistic photography. Your description goes well with it.
It is a great photo and definitely a good prompt–lots of interesting stories this week.
Loved this. I saw these structures and activities as symbols and metaphors too. Ann
I couldn’t get away from the apparent symbolism–liked your association with time.
Loved the way you used the music, fits in with the image so well. Enjoyed this very much

They seemed to play off one another when I was writing this piece. Thanks for commenting.
Neatly done tale with a daud of philosophy thrown in.
What’s not to like?
