“Whelpy” is surely not a word
Retrieve your tiles.
It’s such a stretch that it’s absurd
But brings me smiles.
So Scrabble’s not always your game
Bridge is a flop.
Tennis and golf, about the same.
We’ll have to stop.
Walking together in the woods
Visits with friends.
Cooking with gas, sharing our goods
Our fun ne’er ends.
Happy Day After….

I love this! Such fun to read.
Of course whelpy is a word… it has to be.. you have to give your support.. he he .. but at leas a walk in the woods works.. (hope no-one stumbles)… 🙂
nice… i’m up for a walk in the woods anytime… have never played bridge (nor cricket) ha – it’s nice to have those things we have fun doing together with the loved one or friends – happy day after.. smiles
smiles…cool…we play games most every night…scrabble was not too recent…i am totally deadly at Monopoly Deal…its usually dice games she slaughters me in…whole lotta ways to have funa nd share the love…
I love playing scrabble, but I haven’t found anyone to play it for a while. I think ‘whelpy’ is a perfectly acceptable. Why not?? Bridge is another good game I haven’t played in a bit.
The fun never ends, have to keep it ~ Whelpy such a cool non-word ~ Happy weekend ~
This is so good. I am playing Scrabble on-line and it’s hard to cheat the computer with “Of course it’s a word” unlike table top where there is some trust. Thanks for joining Poetics today.
As one who has raised puppies, I could go with “whelpy”. Dictionaries don’t know everything. 🙂 Fun piece.
Games or walks in the woods–whatever works as long as your together. The trick isn’t whether its truly a word or not, just convincing the other that it is!!
We must stave off senility with brain games, projects, & creativity; really enjoyed your take on the prompt; but still it reminds me of how soon our kids become bored without constant stimulation.
Hmm… whelpy most certainly should be a word in Scrabble (I play it on my iPad all the time).
Beautiful, warm and intimate – loved it.
I am a scrabble player, and play on Facebook. My friends prefer movies and walking, so Scrabble is a guilty secret. But the love is right out there! Thanks.
So much fun in your poem and love all the games and activities.
Happy Day After?.. Excellent.. smiles.
