I loved this piece, really socked it to the T.Heads; should have worked David Byrne in though. Your closing stanza is killer; just the right amount of dark humor & sarcasm.
Interesting – I like the progression through the poem – the difference in all the headlines and particularly enjoyed the closing note.
VB, I think you’ve hit on the reason netflicks is so popular
sounds like you made a good choice there…I am torn between just being entertained and keeping my head in the sand and being informed at least…its a delicate balance before it becomes too much….
Yes .. sometimes it’s as informative.. and a lot more entertaining than the platitudes called news…
You definitely have hit the ‘nail on your head’ with this poem. “Polifact,” which I follow on Facebook finds Rush Limbaugh to be the least trusted news source, and when they checked out his claims they found 82 percent of his ‘news’ to be false.
… so glad we have options
Sure, why not ~ Enjoy the reruns and forget about the bad news ~ When the news is too much for me, I switch to “feel good” stories and movies ~
you’ve nailed it…
that is a sound choice!
Well said. What scares me are the people who thrive on this news 24/7 and nothing else. They need a dose of Frasier.
Fantastic. The talking heads can be such a drain. Ending the day with a laugh is much better for the soul. (And I agree – “Frasier” was a great show!)
Yup. For me, it’s “Friends”. Smiles.
take a look at these hands: there’s something in between them… ~
